Hindi Diwas
Mahatma Gandhi widely regarded as the Father of the Nation, in 1918 attended
a conference on Hindi Literature and proposed Hindi to be made the National
Language of India. He called it the language of everyone. It was on 14 th September
1949 that Hindi, was accepted as the official language of India by the Constituent
Assembly. It was from1953 onwards that Hindi Diwas came to be celebrated
annually on 14 th September in order to promote the use of Hindi language in India.
While, Hindi Diwas is celebrated as a festival across the country, RNS Pre
University College also celebrates this occasion with gusto and enthusiasm. The
programme is organised every year involving a variety of literary and cultural
activities, with the participation of the students.
